Alleys Video Mapping

 

Organized by Microsoft Nepal and Alleys Inc , From South Korea, I attended the Event/workshop Alleys Video Mapping which was quite fun , much of the learning experience and meeting new friends and getting the network much more bigger.

So, lets have some background on what is alleys
Alleys is an android/ios app for map ,its totally different than google maps or other maps, it provides 3d videos and pictures.
The company is From South Korea , Alleys Inc and the founders , developesr were there for helping us and chit chatting.

So, the day started on August 6, with around 40 youTHS gathered on one place. Had some formal introductions on how to map, what is alleys, the goodies we would get, got some badges and stickers too and 5 groups with 7 people in one was formed and assigned each a cultural heritage to map.
We named our group TeamSeven_swayambhunath as we were going to  map Swayambhunath Temple and so did others.

Now , its time for moving into the field.
We made some rough plans on how we are going to map.
So , the plan was quite simple but effective.
We the team of Seven would Climb the top of Swayambhunath from all the different entries , would meet at the top , and try to map whole the Temple area including streets and small places and then move down from different exit places and atlast meet at the common venue , so we started mapping, we had some problems of Not having Charge on the phone, the crowd but it didn't let pushed  us back, we managed some how and got the result we were looking for.

After 4 hours of mapping , we met and found we did quite awesome job as we were able to map whole premises. Now it was time for us to be back home.

We uploaded our mapped video on alleys map , our team had mapped around 1.2 Miles on total which was quite expected as we where so tired that day waling ups and downs of the hill.

So, there was a Competition too, the best team would win the Prizes ,, brought from South Korea and we were quite sure , e would be in top three :P

So the net day w, reached the MIC Nepal office , had some presentations ,, we had no idea we need to make the presentations too, we just made a small ppt file in around 5 mins while other team were presenting.

Now the result time , and we got the Second palce and some goodies and a Certificates too.

This two days wa not only about mapping , we made friends, we made journeys, we had fun, we increased our network circle, and Learned quite a lot.

and for me I also had soem discussion with their Mschine Learning Engineer of Allleys Inc Company ,, Laeyoung Chang , I discussed what Machine learning Models they had been using in their app for Object Detection, Image segmentation , image filtering and to be frank it was hard of us to communicate as he barely speaks English but we did have a quite good conversation and he told some models, LIke tensorflow for instance they used and also revealed the  Videos might be Open Source in Future , which may be handy datasets for Nepal.
